In late 1997 I was a Founder and the President of the Lifeguard Association of General Santos City but that's a future article! As a diver, someone gave me the idea to do check out dives in the waters fronting the recreational beaches to check for under water hazards which could be dangerous to customers! To me, this sounded like an interesting idea so I made my plans not only to check out what was under the water but to make sketch maps also! Now, as a diver I had never bothered to dive in this area before everyone said to me that it was no good and a waste of time diving there as there was nothing of interest to see but during the next few days … [Read more...]
All I know is…
Quoting Will Rogers, the twentieth century American humorist, “All I know is what I read in the papers.” That is where I stand (or sit) right now. Other quotes about journeys and destinations come to mind, but I will not use them as “filler” for this article. Government routinely trumpets the “heroism” of OFW’s (Overseas Filipino Workers) exporting the country’s precious education and talent resources to other countries who didn’t make the investment, but reap the benefits. Anyone who wants to work as an OFW should certainly have the right … [Read more...]

Yes, you read the title correctly! I am wondering if the Carabao can be at least a part of a way to resolve Global Warming, and I am not joking! I recently read an article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer which told of a scientist who believes that he can use the carabao to alleviate Global Warming! How, you ask? Well, it is somewhat complicated. But, you see, the carabao can eat almost anything. It has "rumen fluid" in it's stomac, which contains organisms that can things like rice stubble into biofuels! You know the stubble that covers a piece of rice? It is a tough substance that generally cannot be eaten. When rice farmers harvest … [Read more...]
