Samal as a safe harbor

I have been researching Samal as someone mentioned that it is an excellent safe harbor for boaters. I see that the marina is nearing completion and many of you have mentioned that it would be a good investement. I am not sure that I will use Samal as a harbor, but it may make a great investement or even a great future home.
Can anyone recommend specific locations in Samal, or even properties that are considered to be reasonably priced? I am intersted solely in property, not property with a home. Is there an average price paid for acre in the area? I appreciate the assistance....

I think Feyma & Bob deal in Samal properties. There are both good & poor anchorages & harbours around the island. In the afternoons/evenings, the Gulf of Davao can become quite lively & many areas around Samal are relatively shallow, so breakers are everywhere. It would probably be best to survey the area yourself. A trick I used to use with my bangka was to head to where fishboats were beached/moored, in a blow. Unfortunately, Samal is much more developed now. I haven't been back for awhile but, according to my wife, we are between Babak & the new marina. My wife may know where there are other properties for sale. She's at her mom's home, at 15A Gov. Generoso, Ba. Obrero, a half block behind & down from the McDonalds & Victoria Plaza. Ask for "Jenny".
    Best of luck!

This is my problem too. A couple of weeks ago Holiday finally answered my letters asking about a berth. They have no idea, or even when they will have slips ready.. They have changed their minds about what size slips they will have too, and how many.

Ellen has Wiskun on the hard near the ferry facility. She has also told me there are a couple of transient moorings there.. I was thinking of the cost of putting in my own mooring?

    lataste,

Hawaii may be as soon as this late Spring for us. I will let you know which direction we turn if we do the Canal. Which island are you on? I forget if you told me already. I will definately be heading to Hawaii, T.B.I. itself. I have family there somewhere around Kona, but will most likely put Imagine in Hilo........i2f

    John,
Hopefully, we'll have our break-water & dock in by the time you arrive in Davao. Next time I talk to my wife, I'll ask her about the canal by Ecoland, where her uncle kept his bangka. What is your loa, beam & draft? My wife was telling me that she thinks they are short of funds for completing the marina near our place.

    John,

I'm located in honolulu, on Oahu. I am very close to the rainbow marina in pearl harbor. I am coming home next month, and then back from the PI in February. Hopefully you can make it to our island, finding transient mooring may be difficult in Oahu though. Where were you looking in Samal?

I was thinking the mooring on the north end of the island. I don't know where. I would have to look around. What ever is best for Imagine. If we locate to Cebu there'a couple of marinas there. We will keep in touch about Hawaii.......i2f

LOL Major correction: Our beach is in/near Balet(?), not by Babak.

    John(Imagine),
The photos my wife have sent me on the property development are poor quality, but I'll try to figure out how to upload a couple. The property is in a cove(well protected), facing just east of Tagum(I think). There are Fishing Bankas just down the beach & we have both beach & higher headland. In fact, I may buy more beach area when I get there. I'll be clearing any underwater debris in front of the property when I get there, beach is presently 24M wide. I'll publish the Lat. & Long. when I get there. Fair winds!

As usual, everything is clear as mud! Apparently, we bought two properties, one in Balet, the other in Tagpopongan. I'll have to wait until I get there to survey the better area for moorage. From what I understand - which isn't much - Tagpopongan has a deeper water area & Balet is fairly level, i.e., long way to walk when tide is out. Better I don't ask anymore questions & wait until I get there, as my brain & checkbook are bonding together to revolt. It never gets boring, does it guys?
